Craft a beautiful 3D Paper Sunflower with this FREE SVG file download.

As autumn leaves begin to paint the world in warm hues, there's nothing quite like adorning your space with beautiful fall-inspired crafts. One such creation, the 3D Paper Sunflower, brings a touch of nature's elegance indoors. In this post, we're excited to share a free SVG file for crafting enthusiasts to create their own stunning sunflowers.

The beauty of fall flowers served as the inspiration for this intricate 3D paper sunflower SVG. Crafted with care, the design encompasses four layers of delicate petals and a meticulously detailed center.

Materials and Tools

To bring this sunflower to life, you'll need:

  • 65 lb cardstock - I like the 12x12 paper packs from Michaels.
  • Craft glue - I use Bearly Arts
  • Tweezers - I love my Hobby Captain pack
  • A bone tool - this is optional, you can also use your scoring stylus.
  • An eye makeup palette for subtle orange shading on the petals - I used something similar to this NYX palette
  • Hot Glue - I only used this for the rolled center to attach.

Cricut Design Space Set Up

With a Cricut machine, cutting out the layers becomes a breeze. The center, composed of eight cup-like pieces and twenty strips, is assembled by gluing the strips end to end and rolling them tightly. There are four layers of petal pieces.

The beauty of this project lies in its adaptability. You can adjust the size of the sunflower to suit your preferences, but remember to resize the entire file, not just individual pieces. Color choices are entirely up to you, though the classic yellow and brown combination offers a stunning result.

I cut mine out using the medium cardstock setting on fast mode but please test your materials for your machine.

Assembly of the Sunflower

Step 1: Petal Shaping and Shading

I use my bone tool to draw a line down each petal and slightly curl with my fingers.

Using Eye Makeup for Petal Shading

A unique touch to this project is the use of eye makeup for shading the petals. This idea was inspired by fellow crafters who found it to be an effective and creative technique. You can use any color honestly and a qtip to add some more color to each petal

Step 2: the Center

You can glue the strips as you go or make a chain to start. The roll up into a spiral. Make sure to glue the strips in the center tightly to prevent them from unwinding. You want this pretty close together.

For the reeses cup looking pieces you can curl the little sides upwards.

Step 3: Full Assembly

I assembled the center first by gluing the layers together from biggest to smallest.

Attach this center to one of the petal pieces.

To ensure your sunflower looks its best, remember to offset the petal layers for added volume.

This is a super easy flower to assemble and can be used in bouquets, wreaths, signs, and even cards. The possibilities are limited only by your imagination.

With this 3D Paper Sunflower SVG, you're poised to create a stunning piece of fall-inspired art. Whether you're a seasoned crafter or just starting out, this project promises a rewarding experience. Download the free SVG file and let your creativity bloom.
