Let's start with the basics of what you will need to create this paper flower project. The first thing you will need to do is sign up for my newsletter to access the FREE SVG template for the hydrangeas. Gather your tools and supplies - these are super budget friendly if you grab the Styrofoam at the Dollar Tree (I know this option isn't available to everyone). You will need:

I cut my petals at just about 2 inches wide and each 12 x 12 piece of paper had about 24 petals on them. I cut out 5 pages of flowers (I did have some casualties) and obviously you may need more or less depending on how big you styrofoam blank is. I ended up cutting about 120 flowers and using around 115. Next time I make this project I would probably even make more to really cover all of the space tightly.
I used a small sponge to paint around the edges of my paper hydrangea flowers. You don't need to be perfect when doing this and there's no power and that I used. The paint dried really lately and it looks beautiful.
I haven't invested in a ball stylus set yet for my flower crafts but I have found an alternative that works for me, a half teaspoon. I told a foam sheet and half you can use anything that's a little soft and then I just round in the center with my half teaspoon until the flower starts to take a little shape. Center for the shipping I just use my fingers to crinkled the pedals a little bit and also fold them at the top into the center and also a way.
I started by working in small sections with my hot glue gun and adding the flowers on in a tight pattern. You don't wanna have a lot of space in between your petals. I was I moved throughout the project I was able to make longer lines of hot glue and work a little bit faster.
My gems were self-adhesive so I just add these in randomly there was no rhyme or reason I'm where I put them and you can put as little or as many as you'd like onto your topiary. You could also exclude them completely if you don't like the look.
Because my Styrofoam was a heart shape I just stopped the dowel right into the point at the bottom, my dowel wasn't super thick and it went really easy. Then I had flower foam within my vase already and I just popped the end of the dowel right into my vase.
This project is so fun for any holiday, as a gift, it is also perfect as some DIY bridal shower or baby shower decor.
